PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE COMMENTS                       

 

I just wanted to say thanks to the people that started "Grassfire. Net".  I'm a 22 year old that is VERY concerned about [where] our country is heading.  … Most of the people in my generation are really not into politics, they have a mistaken idea that it doesn't affect them.  I try to tell them different but they look at me like I’m weird.       --Jonathan 

Dear Friends:
What is this country coming to? I came here as an immigrant in 1956 and became a US citizen 5 years later. I grew up in Germany and when I was in first grade, my mother told me that I was not to raise my hand up and say 'Heil Hitler' as we were told to do. As a result I got my hand slapped with a ruler by our teacher. No one is making children say the 'pledge of allegiance'. So I would think that, if a father doesn't believe in God, he could just tell his child not to say whatever he doesn't believe in. Why should the majority bow to the one? I wonder if this man objects to using American Dollars because they have 'In God We trust" printed on them. Thank you for the work that you are doing. I'm glad my daughter forwarded me your web site. Thanks to the person and/or the group of people [who] kicked this project off. I’m a retired U.S. Army DAV with combat service in Korea/RVN, and I don’t have to tell you where I stand on this issue. God Bless America, and to every person who takes a stand for this country!     --James

I am the mother of 2 sons and believe that there is nothing wrong with the
Pledge.  … I would like to inform this father that God is our world creator and Jesus is his son.  Had is not been for GOD he would not be here today.  There are many types of religions in the world and the words UNDER GOD mean to me that this is a nation of many religions and each religion has a different ways of recognizing GOD in their lives.
The words UNDER GOD do not specifically rule out just one religion these

I just wanted to thank you for coming up with this and getting it out to the people! What is our nation coming too if they take this away. The man who filed this suit, apparently failed to realize that he lives in a "free" country that allowed him this frivolous suit, and could very well send a note to school asking them to remove his child during the pledge if he so felt.

 

If he feels that his child is being singled out, then what is he doing to all the other kids who won't be allowed to recite the pledge every morning?!

My pastor preached a very good sermon today on why America is a blessed nation, and I think the verse that he read would be a great "comment" for your Pledge of Allegiance page (or anywhere actually). "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." Psalm 33:12

America was built on biblical principles by our founding fathers over two hundred years ago. We were "endowed by our CREATOR" with certain unalienable rights. God has ALWAYS been acknowledged in American culture since there has been an AMERICA!!!  The freedom of religion that was written in the constitution was to give us the right to worship GOD in our own way, but nonetheless to worship GOD.  No judge, member of congress, or president for that matter, has the right to attempt to change what this country was built upon, and has always stood for!   When I was in
elementary school, (and YES it was in a public school ), we said the pledge of allegiance every day. We said a prayer before lunch asking GOD to bless our food.  This was in the late 1970's, and I can remember it just like it was yesterday. Also … the BIBLE was acceptable reading material, and when GOD was welcome in our schools, I can't recall EVER seeing any guns or drugs in school!!  

 

It is high time AMERICANS  put a stop to all the liberal, athiestic, "treason" .  If you do not believe in God, you are given that right. You are NOT given the right to take His name out of any context in which it was written and acknowledged long before YOU ever existed !  … Whether or not you believe in God, does not change the FACT that this country was founded by, and is occupied by, a lot of people that DO ! 

 

I also find it disturbing that after  9/11/01, almost every home and every automobile in USA , was displaying a " GOD BLESS AMERICA" sign, but we can't say His name in school, or the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ?   When disaster strikes, we run to God for help, but [where are we] when some FOOL cries that they find the use of God in any context, offensive and some spineless, liberal judge or politician tries to change what has always been the backbone of AMERICA. 

 

September 11th was only the beginning !   We are NOT invincible.  GOD has brought America this far, not luck, or the accomplishments of any man. Let's get back to the GREAT COUNTRY that we have always been.  Pray that God never stops blessing America, and we start blessing Him!       -Davie T
