Senate Panel Passes $193 Billion War Supplemental Bill
Defying a White House veto threat, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved a $193 billion war supplemental spending bill and
and voted 17-12 to clear an amendment from Sen. Dianne Feinstein,(D-CA), to authorize a five-year emergency visa program for foreign agricultural workers. Supporters of the measure said it was needed to prevent a harvesting disaster caused by recent immigration crackdowns.
"It is a reality that oranges are rotting on trees in Florida," said Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho.
