WHAT
OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT NION...
THANKS, GRASSFIRE. … I
SPENT A YEAR IN 'NAM FIGHTING THOSE COMMIES; KEEP IT MOVING.
--BOB P. Proud Veteran
If we hadn't fought for our rights and independence from
the start, where would we be today? If it hadn't been for those that fought
instead of fleeing to Canada, we wouldn't be the Great country we are today. If
those people don't want to be "with us" they can move to England. Who knows, if
those "Draft Dodgers" had done what they should have done in Vietnam, Maybe that
outcome would have been a lot different. And another thing, Iraq is connected
to 9-11 in that Hussein is a terrorist. He’s only waiting for the right time to
strike. I say take him out before he has a chance to repeat 9-11.
--Rich K.
I believe that although President Bush is an idiot and would do well to learn how to communicate with tact (you know, the ability to tell someone where to go in such a way that they actually look forward to the trip), we should support the President's actions. While I grew up in the sixties and agree with some of the rhetoric written by NION, in this specific situation, terrorism has evolved the art of war into a "draw a line in the sand" absolute.
I don't pretend to
know the answers of how to root out and eliminate the seeds of hatred which fire
the imminent danger of violence toward Americans and others around the world,
but I do know that there is no room for leniency toward those who perpetrate
such violence through subversive behavior. I stand on the side of my President
... even though ... -Jodie M.
I am just amazed at this campaign against our President and all the American troops defending our nations freedoms. I think she (Jane Fonda) and the others of this group, would be singing a different tune had THEIR loved ones been on any of the planes, or lost in the Twin Towers!
It sounds so nice to talk about "world peace" and loving ALL our fellow men, but the reality is that there are people out there who would be joyous at the United States demise. The faces of those killed on Sept. 11, may be history to those associated with NION, but for the families of those lost, there will never be a time they will be able to forget.
I have seen signs all over that say, "we will never forget", but it seems there are some who have already forgotten. … They will not stop looking for ways to hurt America. We must not stop looking to defend her! --Wayne, L.
I strongly support President Bush in his stand on terrorism and against Saddam.
One statement made by NION that compares the Iraq situation to the fight against slavery is so far off base. Do they (NION) not understand what is going on in Iraq?
Maybe if these people
stepped out of their ivory towers and fell to their knees to ask for God's
guidance they would see the world in a different light.
--Gail F.
I believe it was Stalin who
called those who protested against the U.S. "useful idiots"; they were useful to
the Soviet Union, but not to freedom. So it is with Hanoi Jane and members of
NION who mistakenly believe Bush is the enemy instead of the butchers behind
9/11. To think that such terrorists are not sponsored indirectly by members of
the Axis of Evil is naive and pathetically stupid.
This same group who screamed when Reagan built up defense technologies, reduced
trade with the Soviet Union, and, with the help of the Saudis, lowered oil
prices; all devastating to the Soviet economy. These same people predicted that
Reagan's policies would invite a nuclear winter; instead it brought about the
end of the Soviet Union and thus brought freedom to over 50 million people.
--Gwen R.
I agree with NION that "questioning, criticism, and dissent must be valued and protected" and "must be fought for". But where were these great thinkers when Clinton was using military actions to divert the public's attention away from his treacherous shenanigans? He needlessly and unashamedly got our GIs and innocent civilians from both sides killed, yet not a peep was heard fro these socialists. --Steven M.
Pure garbage. A group of pampered, well paid individuals reluctant to walk-the-talk by leaving the USA and relocating their homes and fortunes to Iraq, North Korea, Vietnam, etc. Every war and crisis seems to produce a bevy of turn-coats willing to incite others against their country no matter what the cause. This Statement of Conscience seems to go well beyond opinion and respectful dissent, rather it appears to stoop to a level of collaboration and treachery bordering on treason. --Manuel C. Jr. Veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
I'm a disabled veteran of
WW II, Any time someone disrespects my flag, or the President, it raises my ire!
Through your organization I can make my feelings known to those who would try
to make laws, rulings, or anything to change the freedoms that us old-timers
fought for! This is my country—I fought for it. Love it or leave it!
--Jim H. Veteran WWII
After hearing those
treasonous, despicable words "Jane Fonda" my stomach churned and my jaws
tightened! Where were the Jane Fonda's during the ethnic cleansing of
the Bosnia, Croatia, and Hertzavena people? Why didn't they speak out to the
world then? --LJC
These people who try to inflict their will on the majority of America, are willing PAWNS, HELPING THE EVIL SLIMES OF THE WORLD continue to abuse, starve, and kill innocent people. They sit up in an ivory tower, away from real life, and think they're doing the world a favor by condemning the President of the United States! How absurd and ignorant can they be! They are playing right into the hands of the evil ones of the world. It's fortunate that the average hard working American understands. -Joe C. VETERAN
I want to remind them what Fonda did during Nam. Her
actions were beyond simply disagreeing with her government and crossed the line
into traitorous acts. As a result, many of our POW's were beaten and tortured
and at least one died from beatings he received as a direct result her
dispicable behavior.
During her visit to Hanoi her hosts took her to see some POW's. Thinking that
Fonda was actually duping her hosts to make contact with them each palmed
messages on small pieces of paper which they passed to Fonda as she shook their
hands. Each message detailed their horrific treatment by their captors. After
palming all of the messages Fonda turned them over to her hosts!
Those imprisoned POWs knew her unthinkable act would
cause their unmerciful torture and as we later discovered, death.
The people that she was giving comfort and aid to, our enemies, were communists
that had INVADED South Vietnam. The government of South Vietnam had asked our
government for aid in fighting back. That is how we came to be involved in Viet
Nam.
Fonda felt comfortable speaking out against her government knowing that her government wouldn’t knock on her door during the darkest time of the night and drag her off to be beaten and tortured and possibly killed.
We have the freedom to disagree with our government.
However, TRUE Americans have big problems with people who denigrate our country
constantly and who align themselves with tyrants and communists, and with third
world nations who are so jealous of our freedom that they will go to any length
to bring us down if they could.
The actions of NION are a direct insult to all of the families of those who lost
loved ones on that day. Your actions are dishonorable. Protest if you must,
but when the chips are down your support needs to be here in America.
Finally, you DO NOT represent what America is all about. … You are irrelevant
until your actions cross the line like Jane Fonda did. She should have been
executed for being a traitor. … Remember, you WILL have to explain your actions
to God when you leave this world. Heaven or Hell is for all eternity. Please
think about this. Rusty A. Proud

I was in the USAF from 68-72, and remember well the activities of the anti-war peace nuts. Does no one study history? In every war, there are those who claim that undertaking the war is immoral, unjust, costly, only promoting our selfish interests, a waste of resources, an a front against humanity, and on and on. Apparently, they just do not get it: there are people who are evil, who do not think like the vast majority of us. They have no problem in killing hundreds of their own people (Iraq), or millions of other’s (Nazi Germany). To try to establish diplomatic dialogue and convince them of their responsibility to mankind is like emptying the ocean with a teaspoon.
No, I don't want a war, I didn't want Vietnam, and I'm sure my dad's generation didn't want WWII. But you have to draw a line in the sand at some point, and warn tyrants and dictators against crossing the line. --Butch B. Veteran
The Presidents statement "you're either with us or against us, how true. We cannot allow this so call organization to under mine the dedication of the American people to seek justice for the loss of life on September 11, along with the others who have given the lives in keeping America the most free country in the world. For the ones that don't believe in our way of life and the freedoms that we cherish … leave we don't want you here. I believe in freedom of speech, but this organization has gone too far. --Les P.
As an EX-liberal ("it was college..."), I know how outrageously nonsensical their opinions can be. ... But this statement is beyond ludicrous. ... If they don't believe in the principles that our American government was founded upon, and if they coldheartedly do not wish to protect all American citizens from destruction by an evil incarnate, they are heartless traitors, and should reevaluate their conscience as well as their loyalty to this country. –Kelly B.
I am glad someone is voicing our opinion. … Why in the world would anyone be on the same side with Jane Fonda--a known North Vietnam pro activist? It’s amazing how easily duped people can be. If we don’t fight against terrorism now what will we be facing in 5 years??? --S. Hart
Freedom comes with an inherent responsibility to defeat any individual or group who might threaten that freedom. To do otherwise is to appease the evildoer. …
The Communists said long
ago that they would destroy us from within because they knew all they had to do
was plant the seeds of discord among us and our very freedom of speech would
destroy us. And now what are we seeing?
They have reaped the personal and financial benefits of a society that they have
no understanding of, but that was paid for by the blood of others. These same
people stand amongst us politicizing and demeaning the patriotic obligations of
their fellow citizens.
These are the same people who strut before us and showcase their contempt for all the values that keep this nation free and oblige her to be the watchdog for the freedom of the rest of the world. Robert W. A proud U.S. Navy Veteran
From the editor. Since launching our “Support the Commander-In-Chief” petition, we have received hundreds of responses from both sides of the issue.
Here a just a few from the dissenting side.
Yes, let's support the Commander-in-thief and all his minions who stole the last election from the people of the United States and proceeded to drive the United States overnment into an illegal and immoral war! --Michael
Ed. Note: Let it go,
Michael. The election has been over for many months. It’s time to move on.
We believe that questioning, criticism, and dissent must be valued and protected. We understand that such rights and values are always contested and must be fought for. This statement is the very essence of what this country is all about. We questioned, criticized, and showed dissent toward the tyrannical regime of King George of England, and in the course of drafting the constitution we realized the value of our freedom to "question, criticize, and dissend" What are you morons trying to do? is it your intent to corrupt our constitution … to silence any criticism risks silencing all criticism ...grow the f*** up and smell the coffee!
Ed. Note: Somebody needs some soap in their mouth.
I basically subscribe to
the "Not In Our Name" statement and now find you denouncing me as
"Anti-American" when in fact I've been an American for over 70 years. I was born
in Idaho, reared in Utah, am a son of a veteran of the "Great War" ("the war to
end all war"), a brother of a veteran of WWII, and am a veteran myself of the
Korean War. I also went to school on the GI Bill, and have gradually come to
recognize imperialism when I see it. Our country was born in opposition to it,
we asserted our right to be free of it, and I was taught it is the American way
to treat others as you would have them treat you. We ought not be waging war on
others and extending the range of our control. This is what Hitler did -- with
his own 'justifications' -- and it makes me sick now to hear other Americans
attempt to justify our current efforts to emulate his practices.
I was impressed with the technical resources you've brought to bear on your web
site and pray to God that you may one day be pointed in a good direction.

I agree with most of the petitions but cannot support the possibility of a war. War is never the answer. Peace is the answer. War will only lead to more poverty, greed, death. No. War is never the answer. --unsigned
